In order to implement the Development Plan for basic universities for the training of highly qualified specialists (profile masters) approved by the order of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan No. 69 of 18.02.2015, according to the educational program «Innovative technologies for obtaining non-ferrous, precious, rare and dispersed metals» specialty 6M070900 – «Metallurgy» for the enterprises included in the State program of industrial-innovative development of the Republic of Kazakhstan, laboratories «Metallurgy of non-ferrous, precious, rare and dispersed metals» and «Innovative technologies of extraction and processing of mineral and technogenic raw materials», which then entered the scientific and production complex «METALLURGY».
The scientific and industrial complex «METALLURGY» is a metallurgical center for collective use to develop technologies for processing, processing and obtaining mineralogical raw materials with a certain concentration of valuable components at the outlet. Also on the basis of the laboratory complex, the research of products of hydrometallurgical and pyrometallurgical processing is carried out using analytical equipment of the complex. The analysis of metallurgical processes is being conducted, and technologies for extracting useful components are developed using programs of the State Program for Industrial and Innovation Development-2 - METSIM and COMSOL Multiphysics, purchased under the program.
The laboratory complex is located in a separate wing of the building of the main building of the university, on the first and in the basement floors, in 6 separate rooms with a total area of 473.5 sq. m., incl.:
- Research and analytical sectors - 202.5 sq.m.;
- Sample preparation areas - 108.0 sq.m.;
- The office of the head of the complex is 19.0 sq.m.
On the adjacent territory there is a technological area of 144 square meters - a site of gravitational enrichment of mineral raw materials.
