"Experimental Farm of Oilseeds" LLP is integrated into the structure of «Astana-Business» LLP holding, is a high-tech enterprise that annually produces more than 12,000 tons of milk, and also supplies more than 1,000 tons of barley seeds, 2,000 tons of winter wheat seeds, 6,000 tons of spring wheat seeds, 1,000 tons of sunflower hybrid seeds to the markets of Kazakhstan, Central Asia and Russia.
Since 2009, "Experimental Farm of Oilseeds" has been acting as a co-executor for the implementation of applied scientific research in the field of agro-industrial complex in PTF of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Since 2011 implementation of the regional budget program 019 "Services for the dissemination and implementation of innovative experience" has been participating. For 2021-2023, the Department of Science in "Experimental Farm of Oilseeds" participates as a co-executor in the budget program 267 "Increasing the availability of knowledge and scientific research" on scientific and technical programs: "Creation of highly productive varieties and hybrids of oilseeds, cereals based on modern scientific achievements for sustainable production in various zones of Kazakhstan" and "Preservation, maintenance, creation of an information database of the sunflower gene pool".
In the State Register of Selection Achievements of the Republic of Kazakhstan include 17 sunflower hybrids, 4 varieties of soft spring wheat, 2 varieties of soybeans selected by "Experimental Farm of Oilseeds" LLP, at the moment 8 more varieties and hybrids are undergoing State variety testing.
Sergey V. Shcherban, Candidate of Agricultural Sciences, is in charge of scientific research on sunflower breeding and primary seed production. Scientists are breeding to create classic, large-fruited sunflower hybrids with modified fatty acid composition, resistant to herbicides of the sulfonylurea and imidazoline class. In the breeding process, in winter, an artificial climate room is used, which allows to obtain two generations of parent lines, to evaluate the selection material to the main pathogens and the parasite plant broomrape.
For the reproduction of genetically pure seeds of the lines-parent forms of sunflower hybrids, mesh group insulators are used, to which drip irrigation with digital control is connected. In the laboratory of primary seed production of the Science Department for better underworking of seeds, a photoseparator is installed.
Natalia Fedorovna Grigorchuk, Candidate of Agricultural Sciences, is engaged in the creation of highly productive varieties of early-ripening soybeans. Early-maturing donor material with high biochemical parameters of seeds is involved in the breeding work.
Konstantin Alexandrovich Stepanov, Candidate of Biological Sciences is headed the selection and seed production of grain crops. Joint breeding work is underway to create spring wheat varieties with “Kazakh Research Institute of Agriculture and Crop Production” LLP and “Federal Altai Scientific Center of Agrobiotechnologies”. Since 2021, a joint breeding program has been launched with the P.P. Lukyanenko National Grain Center to create winter wheat varieties of intensive and semi-intensive types, high-yielding, adapted to the agro-climatic conditions of East Kazakhstan region, with high grain quality.
In 2019, the company received the status of a basic farm of the P.P. Lukyanenko National Grain Center (Krasnodar, Russia) for seed production of winter and spring wheat, spring barley and oats. Industrial seed production of spring wheat varieties is carried out: (Courier, Daria, Altair and Barys); industrial seed production of winter wheat varieties selected by the P.P. Lukyanenko National Grain Center (Brigade, Thunder, Ethnos).
A joint program is being implemented with Rapul-Kazakhstan on seed production of medium-ripened, high-yielding, lodging-resistant pea varieties Astronaut and a program on primary seed production of durum spring wheat with Syngenta. Together with Secobra Seeds (France), a project is being implemented for the primary seed production of Eustass oilseed flax.
Scientists and specialists are testing scientific research and introducing completed scientific developments in the Eastern, Southern and Northern regions of the country.
