Design of the architectural environment is the use of a variety of methods, modern materials and technologies that allow you to create a new and make changes to the existing environment, design objects and form a harmonious space for human life.

The main directions of design of the architectural environment:

• interiors of residential, public and industrial buildings: planning and design of space, creation of furniture and landscape of the adjacent territory;
• urban environment - development of navigation systems, decoration of building facades, design of urban facilities;
• design of exhibitions and exhibition stands: placement of exposition items, advantageous use of color and lighting solutions.

The curriculum of designers has much in common with the curriculum of the specialty "Architecture", and includes a number of special disciplines, such as:

• Design engineering;
• Ergonomics;
• Production of design objects;
• Construction of design objects;
• Graphics and layout;
• Fundamentals of composition;
• Color science (chromatics), etc.

When studying the disciplines "Technical means of architectural design", new technologies and equipment are used: PC, network equipment, HUION INSPIROY graphic tablets, screen panel.

  Graphics and layout

The discipline “Graphics and layout” is a major academic discipline in the formation of the profession of a designer. When studying, the student receives information in the field of architectural graphics and composition related to the peculiarities of human perception of three-dimensional forms, achieving their unity and integrity, aesthetic expressiveness by means of graphics, gets acquainted with the principles and techniques used in creating drawings and demonstration materials.

During the period of study for undergraduate students, the following types of practices are provided:

• Educational practice;
• 1st industrial practice;
• 2nd industrial practice;
• Undergraduate practice.

Specialists in this field are in demand in architectural bureaus, art studios, furniture production, landscape design studios, and educational institutions in this area.

The qualitative level of students' training is confirmed by their results at various international competitions, various creative competitions and exhibitions. In 2021, the international competition "ALTYN SHANYRAK" was held, organized by a team of teachers of the EP "Architecture" and "Design of the architectural environment" of the East Kazakhstan Technical University. D. Serikbaev with the support of the Union of Architects of the Republic of Kazakhstan, where a 4th year student of group 18-DA-1 received a Diploma of III degree in the nomination "Interior Design".

The staff of the department organized an intra-university competition "Comfortable student hostel", the purpose of which was to modernize student hostel No. 3 of the NAO VKTU named after. D. Serikbaev to improve the living conditions, study, work and leisure of students. 9 project works were presented, 3 of which were presented by 4th year students 18-DA-1.

This year, the VIII International Scientific and Technical Conference of Students, Undergraduates and Young Scientists "Creativity of the Young - Innovative Development of Kazakhstan" was held, dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the first rector Serikbaev D.M. and the 100th anniversary of the second rector Sidorov A.K., in which students took part, wrote theses and designed an exhibition.
