Educational and extracurricular activities at the International School of Engineering are aimed at the comprehensive development of students, fostering active citizenship, patriotism, moral and ethical values, and promoting a healthy lifestyle culture.

These activities are implemented through the following areas:

  • implementation of the state policy for the development of the state language;
  • physical development and health promotion of students;
  • prevention of drug abuse, drug trafficking, religious extremism, terrorism, and gambling addiction;
  • moral, ethical, and spiritual education;
  • patriotic education and the development of students’ historical awareness;
  • legal education, as well as the promotion of legal awareness, civic responsibility, and respect for the rule of law.

The implementation of these activities contributes to the development of competitive professionals who possess high moral standards, social responsibility, an active civic position, and the skills necessary for successful professional and personal growth in modern society.

Special attention at the International School of Engineering is given to the development and promotion of the state language. In line with the implementation of the national program for the development of the state language, the School’s faculty members and students actively participate in Olympiads, competitions, reviews, and various other events at different levels aimed at enhancing language proficiency and strengthening the status of the state language.

On a regular basis, visits are organized to the East Kazakhstan Regional Drama Theatre named after Zhambyl, where students attend performances in the state language, as well as concert programs featuring renowned Kazakhstani theatre and pop artists touring in Ust-Kamenogorsk. Such activities contribute to students’ engagement with the national culture, spiritual values, and literary heritage of the Kazakh people.

In addition, throughout the year, employees of the International School of Engineering attend two-level state language courses, which help improve their language proficiency and expand opportunities for the use of the Kazakh language in their professional activities.

An important area of educational and extracurricular work at the International School of Engineering is the promotion of a healthy lifestyle, physical development, and the strengthening of students’ health and well-being.

The physical development of students is encouraged through the active participation of both faculty members and students in sports events organized by the University. Students of the School regularly take part in spartakiads, university games, and various sports competitions at different levels, achieving prize-winning results and successfully representing the School at university and regional sporting events.

Sports clubs and sections are highly popular among students, providing opportunities to develop physical fitness, improve overall health, and foster teamwork, discipline, and a spirit of cooperation.

Throughout the year, curators of academic groups carry out systematic preventive activities aimed at fostering a responsible attitude toward personal health. Students are offered screenings of documentary and feature films highlighting the harmful effects of drug abuse, smoking, and other addictions. Meetings are also organized with specialists from the Healthy Lifestyle Center, healthcare professionals, and experts in disease prevention.

 

Traditionally, the International School of Engineering actively participates in the university-wide campaign “EKTU Students for a Healthy Lifestyle,” which aims to promote physical activity, strengthen the health of young people, and encourage a sustainable commitment to a healthy lifestyle.

The prevention of negative social phenomena among young people is an important area of educational and student development work. The International School of Engineering conducts ongoing activities aimed at preventing drug abuse, drug trafficking, religious extremism, terrorism, and gambling addiction among students.

Throughout the year, lectures, curator-led sessions, preventive meetings, and surveys are organized to foster a responsible attitude toward health, safety, and future well-being among young people. Students participate in awareness-raising and educational events focused on the consequences of drug addiction, gambling, destructive religious movements, and other social threats.

Special attention is given to the development of legal awareness, critical thinking skills, and safe behavior in today’s information environment. These preventive activities contribute to the formation of an active civic position, the promotion of a healthy lifestyle, and the development of resilience to negative influences in society.

Spiritual, moral, and aesthetic education at the School is aimed at fostering a modern worldview, humanism, and universal values among students. The main means of cultural and aesthetic development include the active involvement of students in artistic and creative activities, as well as their exposure to various forms and genres of art.

Every year, our students participate in a wide range of cultural, educational, and extracurricular events organized both at the university and city levels, including Knowledge Day, Freshman Initiation, Freshman Talent Show, Student Spring Festival, KVN Championship, Miss EKTU, Nauryz-Duman, and other events. Participation in these activities contributes to the development of a high level of moral culture, civic responsibility, and patriotism, while also supporting the preservation and promotion of the university’s historical and cultural traditions.

Patriotic education and the development of students’ historical awareness are among the priority areas of educational work at the International School of Engineering. Activities in this area are aimed at fostering patriotism, respect, and love for one’s homeland, university, and chosen profession, as well as developing civic responsibility, national identity, and an active social position among students.

As part of the implementation of patriotic education objectives, students actively participate in events dedicated to the national holidays of the Republic of Kazakhstan and become familiar with the country’s state symbols, legislation, government programs, and strategic development documents. Special attention is given to discussions of the annual Addresses of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, as well as issues related to strengthening national unity and preserving historical memory.

Traditional activities include meetings with veterans of the Great Patriotic War and distinguished labor veterans, visits to the Zhambyl East Kazakhstan Regional Drama Theatre, as well as excursions to historical and cultural sites, museums, and ethnographic villages. These activities contribute to the spiritual, moral, and patriotic development of young people.

Students of the International School of Engineering actively participate in the activities of university public associations and youth organizations. They are members of debate clubs and leadership schools and take part in youth movements and community initiatives, demonstrating a high level of social engagement and leadership skills.

An important component of student development work is fostering a responsible attitude toward the environment and the university campus. In accordance with the approved schedule, students actively participate each year in spring and autumn environmental campaigns and community clean-up activities aimed at improving and maintaining designated areas of the university.

Every year, faculty members and students of the International School of Engineering take part in events dedicated to the Constitution Day of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Day of Unity of the People of Kazakhstan. These activities include youth marches held under the slogan “I Am a Patriot of Kazakhstan!”, through which participants demonstrate their civic responsibility, respect for national values, and commitment to strengthening social harmony and unity.

To promote legal culture, legal awareness, and civic responsibility, the International School of Engineering has established a Commission on Legal Education and the Prevention of Offenses. Throughout the year, students participate in lectures, curator-led sessions, and preventive discussions on compliance with legislation, anti-corruption measures, cybersecurity, and the prevention of unlawful behavior.

These activities contribute to improving students’ legal literacy, strengthening their understanding of civic responsibilities, and fostering an active civic position.

The curators of the International School of Engineering continuously monitor students’ academic performance and attendance, as well as assess the living conditions of students residing in university dormitories and rented accommodation.

In accordance with the approved student development plan, “School Days” are regularly organized and held in Dormitories No. 1 and No. 3. These events are aimed at supporting students, creating a favorable educational and living environment, and strengthening interaction and communication between students and the school administration.
