The purpose of the educational program: It is aimed at training specialists capable of organizing the activities of production units of metallurgical enterprises.

The program focuses graduates on active participation and initiative in the breakthrough development of classical metallurgical industries, the introduction of new technologies and equipment, and a change in production culture.

The objects of professional activity of graduates are non-ferrous metallurgy enterprises, chemical, mining and chemical industries, industry research and design institutes, factory laboratories, secondary vocational and higher educational institutions.

The field of professional activity is production, technological and organizational work at industrial enterprises; research work on the production of non-ferrous, rare metals, alloys and special materials, on the processing of metals and alloys, heat treatment of metals and alloys.

The subject of professional activity is the preparation of raw materials for metallurgical production; Theory of metallurgical processes; Technology of metallurgical processes; Metallurgy and heat treatment.

Types of professional activity: Bachelors in the specialty 6B07201 – "Metallurgy" can perform the following types of professional activities:

  • production and technological;
  • Organizational;
  • settlement and design;
  • experimental research.

Functions of professional activity – Metallurgists perform a wide range of functions related to metallurgical production. Depending on the position level, metallurgists can perform the following functions:

  • Ore preparation: Ore sampling, analysis and classification.
  • Melting processes: Management and control of melting processes in furnaces and converters. Smelting of steel, cast iron and non-ferrous metals.
  • Creating alloys: Adding various elements to the molten metal to obtain the necessary material properties.
  • Casting: Filling molds with molten metal to produce castings of a certain shape.
  • Forging and rolling: Processes of deformation of metal at high temperature to give it the necessary shape.
  • Heat treatment: Procedures for heating and cooling metal in order to improve its mechanical properties.
  • Quality control: Analysis and testing of finished products for compliance with standards and requirements.
  • Development of new technologies: Research in the field of metallurgy aimed at creating new alloys, improving existing technologies and reducing costs.
  • Environmental control: Monitoring and minimizing the harmful effects of production processes on the environment.
  • Organization and management of metallurgical production: Planning, coordination and control of production processes at a metallurgical enterprise.
  • Technical documentation: Development and maintenance of technical documentation for equipment, technological processes, quality standards, etc.
  • Development of metallurgical technologies: Research and creation of new methods of processing metals and alloys, optimization of existing technological processes.
  • Technological control: Monitoring and analysis of current processes in order to optimize them and improve product quality.
  • Computer modeling: Application of software tools for modeling and optimization of metallurgical processes, prediction of alloy properties.
  • Development of metallurgical equipment: Design and creation of new machines and installations for the metallurgical industry, taking into account safety and efficiency requirements.
  • Equipment maintenance: Management, setup and maintenance of metallurgical equipment.
  • Operation and repair of metallurgical equipment: Maintenance, diagnostics and troubleshooting of machines and installations, planning and maintenance.
  • Research and development in the field of new materials: Creation of new alloys, study of their properties, application in various industries.
  • Planning and logistics: Organization and optimization of production processes related to the delivery of raw materials for metallurgy and finished metal products, accounting and control of material consumption.
  • Consulting and sales: Assistance to clients in the selection of metal products, advice on the use of metals and alloys in various industries.
The learning process:

Specialists are trained in special disciplines, including compulsory basic, core disciplines and the choice of students assigned to the State Educational Institution in their specialty.

SYLLABUS educational and methodical programs and educational and methodical complexes are available in all disciplines of the curriculum, as well as methodological guidelines for laboratory and practical work.

In order to achieve the goals, objectives and mission of the university, training in educational programs is carried out taking into account the requirements of the labor market by establishing contacts with potential employers. For this purpose, practical training of students is carried out at two branches of the department: Kazzink LLP, a branch of NC KPMS RK Vniitsvetmet, as well as at enterprises – bases of practices with which long-term contracts have been concluded.

Academic mobility

According to the academic mobility program, students of the School have the opportunity to participate in academic mobility programs both within Kazakhstan and in foreign countries (Spain, Poland, China, Austria, Greece, Turkey, etc.)

Olympiads

Under the guidance of teachers, students of the Metallurgy educational program participate in Olympiads of national and international significance.

Students received prizes in the II stage of the Republican Subject Olympiad among students of higher educational institutions in the specialty "Metallurgy", which was held at the NAO Toraigyrov University.

Research work of students

The Kazakh-German Institute of Science and Technology in the field of metallurgy and mining was opened at the University.

On the basis of the KNI, joint scientific projects and research in various fields will be implemented, modern high-tech laboratories and research centers will operate, which will focus on a wide range of relevant research.   On the basis of these laboratories, targeted training of scientific personnel with the necessary competencies will be carried out, which allow generating new knowledge and technical solutions, creating innovative developments for their implementation at metallurgical enterprises

Our research work is organized in the form of:

  • participation in student scientific organizational, mass and competitive events of various levels: scientific seminars, conferences, contests of works, Olympiads in disciplines and directions;

Military Department

Students of our educational program can optionally enroll in the military department and after graduation receive the rank of sergeant or reserve lieutenant.

Social and educational work

Students and the teaching staff of our school actively participate in sports events.

Every year, clean-up days are held at the university, where students, the entire faculty and staff of the university take part.

Students are actively involved in the creative teams of the University and present their talents in annual competitions such as “Freshman Talents”, “Student Spring”, “Mr. and Miss VKTU”, etc.

The Metallurgy program at the International School of Engineering was ranked first by NCE "Atameken," with a high employment rate of 98%. Teachers undergo advanced training at manufacturing enterprises in East Kazakhstan to enhance their professional skills and knowledge.

The high level of employment of EP graduates is confirmation of a sufficient level of relationships with employers. Since the mining and metallurgical complex is quite widely developed in our region and occupies a leading position in the industry of the Republic of Kazakhstan, personnel training in the Metallurgy educational program is carried out taking into account the requirements of the labor market by establishing connections with potential employers. Practical training of students is carried out at the branch of the department LLP UK MK "Kazzinc" , JSC "UMZ";JSC "UK TMK", Ridder GOK "Kazzinc", Zyryanovsky GOK "Kazzinc", NC KPMS RK"Vniitsvetmet", JSC FIC "Alel", Kazakhmys Corporation, Bakyrchik Mining Enterprise LLP, Polymetal LLP, Kazminerals. Graduates of trained highly qualified specialists are successfully employed in the mining and metallurgical industries of the country.

Teachers annually take advanced training courses at manufacturing enterprises in East Kazakhstan

Teachers of the metallurgy field were trained at the Ust-Kamenogorsk Metallurgical complex of Kazzinc LLP: "Lead, zinc and copper: production technologies and quality management". After completing the internship, certificates were issued.

Professional development at manufacturing enterprises not only helps teachers to take a fresh look at some pedagogical problems, but also helps to maintain, expand, deepen and improve previously acquired professional knowledge, skills and abilities.
