The Department of Physical Education and Sports is one of the oldest departments of the university, the year of its creation is 1960. The first heads of the department were Levchenko B.F., Zhaksylykov M.F.
Since December 2023, the head of the Health and Sports Center has been Symbat Tusukhanovich Bekbossynov.
Scientific and personnel potential of the Health and Sports Center: 13 trainers and teachers. Among them: 1 professor, doctor of pedagogical sciences, honored trainer-teacher, 1 honored trainer-teacher, 6 senior trainer-teachers, 1 trainer-teacher and 2 mid-level specialists - laboratory assistants.

- Order of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan “On the implementation of the state program for the development of physical education and sports in the Republic of Kazakhstan for 2007-2011” (September 2, 2008, No. 498);
- Concept for the development of physical culture and sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan until 2025 (No. 168 of January 11, 2016);
- Message from the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan K.K. Tokayev to the people of Kazakhstan “Mass sport is the key to the health of the nation” (01.09.2020).
On the basis of these documents, a work program is drawn up, taking into account the conditions and possibilities of the sports base of the university, the contingent of students, and the qualifications of the teaching staff.
