The laboratory is a division of the VERITAS Center of Excellence for the development of technologies and nanotechnologies for obtaining new materials for various sectors of the economy - mechanical engineering, construction industry, chemical and processing industry, geology and mineral exploration, other industries, as well as for performing fundamental and applied scientific research in various fields of science – mineralogy, materials science, chemistry, ecology and others.
Objectives and activities of the laboratory
The main purpose of the laboratory, in accordance with the priority directions of the development of education and science of the Republic of Kazakhstan for the near future, is to conduct fundamental and applied scientific research in the main direction: "High technologies for obtaining new materials based on the integrated use of resources of the mining and metallurgical industry".
Among the activities of the laboratory are also:
- performing SRW and SREDW in the field of materials science and nanotechnology;
- scientific and technical cooperation with partners in Kazakhstan and with foreign partners.
Laboratory tasks
In accordance with the main purpose and scientific directions, a range of practical tasks and functions of the laboratory has been formed, including:
- in-depth study of mineral and man-made raw materials;
- development of scientific products and commercial technologies, including nanotechnology;
- development of scientific and technical cooperation with foreign partners, conducting joint research on international programs, facilitating the exchange of scientists between Kazakhstan and foreign countries;
- conducting research within the framework of scientific programs of teaching staff, programs for the preparation of doctoral and master's theses, theses (projects) of undergraduate students;
- conducting scientific research within the framework of state budget projects;
- carrying out research on orders of industrial enterprises and organizations, research centers and institutes, individual scientists within the framework of contractual works.
Types of SRDW and laboratory-analytical studies performed on the basis of the LAR:
- transmission electron microscopy with micro (nano)analysis (TEMMA);
- scanning electron microscopy with microanalysis (SEMMA);
- X-ray diffractometry (X-ray diffraction analysis) - RD;
- inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICPMS);
- atomic emission spectrometry of microwave plasma (AESMP);
- X-ray fluorescence spectrometry (XFS);
- spectrophotometry (SPM);
- colorimetry (K);
- heat treatment of materials (HTM);
To perform these types of research and development work, the Analytical Research Laboratory has a wide range of sites and sample preparation equipment.
