The field of professional activity of graduates who have mastered the undergraduate program includes research, design, construction and operation of technical means for the production of heat, its application, control of its flows and the conversion of other types of energy into heat.

Functions of professional occupation:

- formulates the goals of the project (program) for solving the tasks set, criteria and indicators for achieving the goals, building the structure of their relationships, identifying priorities for solving problems;
- develops options for solving the problem, analyzing options, predicting the consequences, finding compromise solutions in conditions of multi-criteria, uncertainty, planning the implementation of a product or process project;
- in organizing the efficient use of energy resources in the energy complexes of industrial enterprises and heat technology; - in reconstruction, modernization and testing of heat-technological equipment;
- in establishing the parameters of the optimal mode of operation of the equipment; introduction of energy-saving technologies, systems for the use of secondary energy resources, non-traditional energy sources and energy-technological combination;
- in the automation of heat technology installations and systems;
- in the choice of methods, instruments and drawing up diagrams for measuring the main
performance characteristics of heat technology equipment; development of technical documentation;
- in establishing the parameters of the optimal mode of operation of the equipment;
choice of water and fuel supply schemes for industrial enterprises;
- in the selection and application of methods for determining technological indicators of water and fuel quality;
- in the preparation of technical specifications for the development of systems for automatic regulation and control of process equipment, taking into account safety requirements;
-participates in installation and adjustment works in accordance with regulatory documentation, in acceptance tests of equipment, acceptance of equipment into operation; - in choosing a solution that meets various requirements (to cost, quality, safety and deadlines) both for long-term short-term planning;
