Description: The discipline examines the characteristics of scanners and medical imaging tools, principles, methods and means of extracting diagnostic information from measurements using various modalities and technological solutions. Students receive basic information on methods of image improvement and reconstruction and get acquainted with modern means of processing and visualization of medical information.

Goal
- formation of a systematic approach among students in the development and use of methods and computer programs for processing visual information obtained by using medical diagnostic equipment.
Objective
- Tasks of studying the discipline: - acquire the skills to assess the capabilities of modern medical imaging using practical examples and the choice of rational diagnostic scanners and medical engineering tools.
Learning outcome: knowledge and understanding
- To know the basic provisions of the theory of data processing and visualization in medicine, the principles of building diagnostic devices, methods for solving problems of improving and reconstructing medical images, adapting to new modalities of medical imaging, types and characteristics of the main scanners and devices.

- Be able to: - use the basic techniques of information processing and visualization in medicine, present the results to the consumer, implement a flexible strategy for processing visual data; - the ability to independently apply methods and means of cognition, training and self-control, to realize the prospects of intellectual, cultural, moral, physical and professional self-development and self-improvement, to be able to critically assess their advantages and disadvantages; - the ability to work effectively individually and as a team member, demonstrating leadership skills of individual groups of performers, including on interdisciplinary projects, be able to show personal responsibility, commitment to professional ethics and standards of professional activity. - to carry out communications in the professional environment and in society as a whole, including in a foreign language.
