On November 25, 2024, the conference "International Cooperation for Kazakhstan's Energy Transition" was held at Nazarbayev University in Astana. The event was timed to coincide with the opening of the traveling exhibition «Energy in Transition – Powering Tomorrow». The conference was organized by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) as part of the implementation of FELICITY II projects on energy efficiency of buildings in Kazakhstan, the Renewable Energy in Central Asia project, the H2-Diplo – Decarbonization Diplomacy initiative.
Many topical issues were discussed at the conference. The speaker of the panel session «Improving energy efficiency in buildings» was Olga Petrova, Associate Professor of the School of Earth Sciences, Candidate of Technical Sciences. She presented a report and presentation on the EKTU experience on campus energy efficiency. Over the past 5 years, EKTU has achieved good results in this area. Energy savings of about 40% are achieved compared to the level of consumption in 2018. About 22% is achieved by saving thermal energy. This was facilitated by the implementation of the Green Campus, Smart Campus and EKTU projects at the EKTU.Otbasy - is the territory of Well-being, the development of an E-monitoring system.
EKTU intends to continue its policy of resource and energy conservation and is always open to sharing experiences on sustainable development measures.
