12 February in Pushkin library, as part of the cultural project "Trinity of languages" in honor of the 25th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the US and Kazakhstan, held the first round of the national contest of English words spelling - Kazakhstan Spelling Bee - 2017.

The spelling competition was attended by 40 students from universities and colleges in our area. Pronaunser uttering words for the contestants performed Corwin Stephanie (Stephanie Corwin) - a visiting English teacher from Minnesota (USA).

The contest took place in rounds, each of which participants correctly understand the words, they dropped out.

  • 1st place - Dina Hissamatova (State University named after Shakarim Semey, 3rd year);
  • 2nd place - Ersultan Myktybek (East Kazakhstan State Technical University D.Serikbaev, 1st year.);
  • 3rd place - Kamilla Mukhamadieva (Kazakh-American Free University, 2nd year).

Our winners received diplomas and valuable prizes to the participants from the US Embassy in Kazakhstan: portable media players iPod series from the company Apple. And most importantly - "vouchers" for the second round of the national competition, which will be held March 4 at Astana.
