18 and 19 November 2017 Startup Academy of the University in conjunction with the American Cultural Center of the Library. Pushkin, based on the EKSTU library, held the first Startup Weekend in Ust-Kamenogorsk!

On a two-day marathon, one hundred and twenty people from all over the city took part in the creation of their start-up from scratch, including students from universities and colleges, as well as beginners.

Startup Weekend is a 54-hour business creation platform from an idea that helps novice businessmen identify the weaknesses of their project and get advice from large businessmen.

Within two days the leading businessmen of the region and business instructors passed their experience through seminars and master classes, communicated with start-ups and helped to develop their projects.

The Startup Weekend Oskemen was attended by such businessmen and mentors as:

Mukhtar Toibazarov, restaurateur and blogger, owner of the restaurant complex "East-West";

Bolat Sultangazin, director of the Business Incubator Nazarbayev University;

Nurzhan Zhanabayev, director of the bread and bakery factory "Karavai".

For two days, the participants of the event created 28 projects in the field of IT, "green" technologies and business, 10 projects were finalized, 4 projects were selected by the jury for their further implementation in the Startup of the University Academy.
