In the Column Hall of D. Serikbayev EKSTU was a grand opening of the historical-documentary exhibition "The history of the formation of non-ferrous metallurgy of Kazakhstan", which was organized by: President Archive of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Akimat of East Kazakhstan region, D.Serikbaev East Kazakhstan State Technical University and the State Archive of the East Kazakhstan region.

- Nowadays on the basis of the University runs the major event - the rector of D. Serikbayev EKSTU Zhassulan Shaimardanov addressed to the participants of the exhibition. - This is a unique chance to learn with the documentary chronicle of formation and development of non-ferrous industry in Kazakhstan, which was first presented to the public. Currently, the mining and metallurgical complex is one of the basic industries of the Republic of Kazakhstan which plays an important role in formation the country's macroeconomic performance. And how it will evolve in the future - depends not only the future of our region, but also the country as a whole. The responsibility for this lies with the younger generation of metallurgists - our graduates whose names will be included in the history of this industry.

In his speech, the vice akim of East Kazakhstan region Zhaksilyk Omar accented on the symbolism of the fact that the exhibition is being held in Ust-Kamenogorsk, especially in the D. Serikbayev EKSTU:

- In our region there are unique deposits of non-ferrous metals, also here the largest industrial enterprises of mining and metallurgical industry. The university is training the qualified specialists for the national economy, including, for the mining and metallurgical complex, - he said. - History of formation and development of the non-ferrous industry of Kazakhstan, development of its mineral resources, discoveries the new deposits and the construction of modern enterprises are the story of the industrial success of modern Kazakhstan. And to march confidently into the future, to successfully develop this area, the young professionals must know the history of the oldest industries in the country.

As the director of the President Archive of the Republic of Kazakhstan Boris Dzhaparov said that the main idea of the exhibition is that on archival sources, museum exhibits, materials of the leading non-ferrous industry of East Kazakhstan region show the history of the formation and the role of non-ferrous industries in the industrial development of the region, its heroic past and present, achievements and successes in the field of economy.

- Nowadays fundamental event is held - said Boris Alikenovich. - Today's youth must to know how labour, diligence, sometimes an extraordinary efforts, the older generation has reached such a thorough development of the industry. Overcoming difficulties, the non-ferrous metallurgy workers were doing a tremendous job to restore the flooded mines, debased equipment, the establishment of industrial activity in the factories stopped before the war, after the end of World War II and 90 years, and in independent Kazakhstan.

The exhibited documents and other materials reveal the history of formation and development of non-ferrous metals in the XX century. It was at this period of time necessary to the rapid development of mineral resources of the country. Photos, government regulations in those years, records and reports of enterprise management staff talk about the prospects of development of the task, problems.

Veterans of the industrial enterprises of the region are invited to the exhibition as a honor guests and they willingly shared their memories of the employment path. The representative of the Board of Veterans "Kazzinc" Leonid Mashiev and veteran of D. Serikbayev EKSTU, Professor Boris Syrnev adreesed with the farewell words to the students of last courses.
