On March 28, 2025, the training "Circular and Sustainable Entrepreneurship: An Introduction to Principles and Approaches" concluded at the Faculty of Economic Sciences and Business of the University of Santiago de Compostela (Spain). The event marked the final activity of the third module of the international Erasmus+ ERASMUS-EDU-2023-CBHE project "Developing Innovative Curricula and Modules in Circular Economy and Sustainable Development - CirculEC."
The training took place within the CirculEC consortium, which brings together universities from Central Asia and the European Union. D. Serikbayev East Kazakhstan Technical University (EKTU), the project's grant holder and coordinator, continues to actively contribute to shaping a sustainable academic agenda and promoting circular economy principles on an international level.
The training program covered a wide range of topics relevant to both the academic community and future entrepreneurs. Participants explored the key principles of the circular economy, including the transition from the linear model of "take - make - use - dispose" to a closed-loop system where resources are reused and utilized more efficiently. Real-life examples of sustainable business models were presented, demonstrating how environmental and social factors can be successfully integrated into corporate strategy while maintaining high economic performance.
Particular attention was given to innovative solutions, technologies, and approaches aimed at developing sustainable products and services. The program also addressed the green standards and regulatory frameworks followed by businesses in the European Union.
The training was not limited to theoretical lectures - it was highly practice-oriented. Participants worked through real-world cases, actively engaged with lecturers, asked questions, and exchanged ideas and experiences. The organizers fostered an open and professional environment that encouraged dialogue and international collaboration.
The training became a significant step in preparing a new generation of entrepreneurs committed to sustainability and innovation. The knowledge and practical skills gained will serve as a foundation for implementing projects that support the transition to a circular economy and the development of environmentally responsible business practices.
