Education program 7М07204-Geology and exploration of mineral deposits occupies a leading position in the national rankings

In 2024, the educational program was accredited by the Central Asian Association for Accreditation of Education (CAAAE).

The educational program "Geology and exploration of mineral deposits" is designed to train highly qualified, competitive and popular in the labor market specialists for geological, geological survey, mining enterprises of the Republic of Kazakhstan, able to perform design, production, technological, organizational work at industrial enterprises in the region.

Geology and exploration of mineral deposits includes the spheres of science, engineering and technology, covering the totality of the problems associated with the development of mineral resources, based on the study of the Earth and its subsoil for prospecting, exploration, exploitation of solid, liquid and gaseous mineral resources. Also geological surveys to meet the needs of fuel, metallurgical, chemical industry, agriculture, construction, evaluation of the ecological status of the territories.

Within the framework of the educational program, two trajectories are being prepared:

"Geology and exploration of mineral deposits" is prepared using traditional and modern methods of study in the field of Geology, prospecting, exploration and development of mineral deposits, environmental management

"Remote methods of Earth exploration using digital technologies" is being prepared using modern digital and remote methods of exploration of geological objects using geoinformation technologies used in mining and geological enterprises.For the implementation of educational programs, new methods of inverted learning at the University (principles and technologies of modern teaching) have been introduced.

A multilingual staff training program is being implemented in three languages: Kazakh, Russian and English.

The Department successfully employs highly qualified teachers with academic degrees and titles, as well as experienced production workers, which allow our graduates to become competitive specialists in their professional activities. At various times, scientists from Japan, great Britain, Germany, Russia, Ukraine and Poland conducted classes for students, master classes and seminars.

The main enterprises where graduates of this program are employed are: "Vostokpromgeo Corporation", SME "VNIItsvetmet", JSC FIC "Alel", LLP "Kazgiprotsvetmet", JSC "Kazzinc" (riddersky GOK, Zyryanovsky GOK, Corporation "Kazakhmys" (Irtysh mine, Nikolayevsky mine, Artemyevsky mine), Sekisovskaya mining company, Bakyrchik mining enterprise. Employment of graduates is more than 90%.

Masters have the opportunity to study at universities abroad (Poland, Germany, Japan, etc.), as well as go on foreign internships, take part in summer schools within the framework of the international educational program Erasmus+, DAAD, etc.

Masters take an active part in competitions of student scientific papers, in National and International scientific conferences of young scientists and students. They win prizes every year in the Republican contest (Almaty).

When implementing an educational program, it is mandatory to involve students in research work. The results of students ' research are regularly published in national and international publications.
