The educational program «Forest resources and forestry» is intended for training of highly qualified specialists in the field of forestry, improvement and greening of settlements and forests:

• knowledge of morphology and biology of woody-shrub plants, patterns of development of forest biogeocenoses, structure of forest resources, organization of management of forest production;
• the ability to develop and implement projects for forest nurseries, forest crops, logging, forest management, forest management, organize and perform work to protect forests from fires, to combat pests and plant diseases;
• the ability to perform work on the design and operation of landscape architecture, arrangement of garden and Park facilities, landscaping of populated areas, planting and reconstruction of green spaces in gardens and parks, phytodesign of interiors;

The objects of professional activity of graduates are forestry and landscaping enterprises of the Republic of Kazakhstan of all forms of ownership:

For training, oriented on development of professional competencies, concluded the contract on joint cooperation and organization of practical base with forestry enterprises (SOE «East Kazakhstan regional architectural-ethnographic and natural landscape Museum-reserve», LLP «Ozelenitel», LLP «KazSRI», RSE «Altai Botanical garden» Committee of science of RK), which hosts field trips, educational and industrial practices.

All types of classes and summer practices are held in the summer expedition campus «Prostor», located on the Bank of the Bukhtarma reservoir.

Currently classes in special disciplines of the educational program are conducted by 3 doctors of science, 2 candidates of science and 2 masters. Among them are 2 doctors of science of the Russian Federation, 2 academicians of the main. Teachers are actively engaged in research activities. Lutai S.S., Master of Agricultural Sciences, is a laureate of the Best Young Scientist of the CIS 2020 (twice), 2021 project of scientific and educational institutions of the Commonwealth of Independent States, organized by the Association of Legal Entities in the form of the association «Bobek National Movement».

When implementing an educational program, it is mandatory to involve students in research work. Together with teachers, research is currently being conducted in the following areas:

• study of forest formation process in forests;
• development of natural biostimulants for plant growth and development;
• development of substrates for accelerated rooting of plant cuttings;
• development of ways to improve the sowing qualities of seeds (increase germination and germination energy) in order to preserve biodiversity in the conditions of the Ore Altai;
• determination of the effect of various nutrient solutions on the safety of cut plant material;
• use of medicinal plants for the production of biologically active and therapeutic and prophylactic drugs for medicine, veterinary medicine and crop production.

The results of scientific research of students are regularly published in publications of national and international significance.

Students take an active part in competitions of students scientific works in National and International scientific conferences of young scientists and students. Students of the specialty «Forest resources and forestry» three times became winners of the Republican contest «Scientists of the future» (Almaty).

At the Republican subject olympiads in the specialty students annually win prizes.

During the training period, our students actively participate in the life of the University, as well as represent the University at regional, national and international competitions in many sports, are part of the KVN teams.

After graduation, the student is awarded the academic degree of bachelor of agricultural Sciences in the educational program «6B08301 Forest resources and forestry».

After graduating from the bachelor's degree, graduates have the opportunity to continue their studies in the master's degree program of the EKTU in the specialty 7M08301 «Forest resources and forestry».
