Educational program (EP) "Medical Engineering (Medical Technology)" is a combination of medical sciences and engineering, which makes it unique and in demand in the modern world, and also allows us to understand and solve complex medical problems using engineering approaches.

The uniqueness of the educational program lies in the absence in Kazakhstan of similar programs that develop knowledge and competencies in the operation, repair, and maintenance of medical equipment from leading global manufacturers of medical equipment in accordance with international standards.

Our university has developed and is implementing a joint educational program (JEP) “Medical Engineering (Medical Technology)” with the Semey Medical University (students will study the disciplines of the medical and biological module 1 semester in the second year).

The program covers modern technologies and methods used in the medical industry, such as medical implantation, medical robotics, medical equipment, etc.

The program actively supports students' research work in the field of medical engineering, which promotes the development of scientific thinking and helps students implement innovative solutions in medical practice.

The program provides students with the opportunity to complete internships in healthcare institutions and companies, allowing them to apply their knowledge in practice and gain experience working in a real medical environment.

At present, there is an urgent need for highly qualified personnel with knowledge of professional English in the specified subject area, who are proficient in methods of supporting professional contacts and implementing effective communication between representatives of foreign companies and domestic users of medical equipment, who are able to translate oral and written technical texts, organize linguistic support for international conferences, symposia, and forums using working English.

To ensure high quality training and competitiveness of graduates, much attention is paid to integration and cooperation with employers and strategic partners. Training is carried out with the involvement of practicing engineers and specialists, which provides skills in the maintenance and repair of medical equipment.

This EP has been developed taking into account the generalization of modern world experience in training bachelors and masters in this field, with the involvement of professors from partner universities in the near and far abroad, who have more than fifty years of experience in training in this field, significant authorial and collective achievements in the development of educational and methodological manuals and laboratory practices, which ensures a high theoretical qualification level of graduating bachelors and masters in the field of "Medical Engineering (Medical Equipment)" at VKTU.

EMPLOYMENT PROSPECTS:

Students in the educational program receive unique knowledge and skills in the development and design of medical devices and systems, including medical information systems, as well as their maintenance and operation in medical institutions of various profiles, which provide excellent employment prospects both in medical institutions, whose activities are impossible without an engineering service, and in engineering companies engaged in the development and maintenance of medical equipment.

Specialists in this field are highly qualified and in demand in the labor market, taking into account the needs of medical institutions and research centers of healthcare in the Republic of Kazakhstan.

GRADUATES OF THE PROGRAM can work in various fields of activity:

• In medical institutions – as engineers for the operation and maintenance of medical equipment, consultants for the selection and purchase of new equipment, specialists in training personnel to work with equipment;
• In research institutes and laboratories – as research engineers developing new types of medical equipment and technologies, as well as conducting experimental and clinical research using equipment;
• In manufacturing enterprises – as design engineers for the design and creation of medical equipment, process engineers for the organization of the production process and product quality control;
• In government agencies – as experts in standardization, certification and licensing of medical equipment, specialists in the development of regulatory legal acts in the field of medical technology.

After completing the bachelor's degree, graduates have the opportunity to continue their education in the master's degree program at VKTU in the ЕP 7M07109 - "Medical Engineering (Medical Equipment) " , subject to mastering the relevant educational and professional program of the pedagogical profile, they are ready for teaching activities and have the opportunity to enter doctoral studies.
