Among the scientific areas on which significant results have been achieved:

  • application of IT-technology in education;
  • mathematical and computer modeling of technical, economic and ecological processes and systems;
  • information technology of infrasound cleaning of flue gases of thermal power complex objects;
  • streaming video recognition for scalable high-load systems;
  • analytical monitoring of reserves and quality of groundwater.

List of laboratories

In 2014, the Mathematical and Information Technologies research laboratory was founded to conduc research of scientists and researchers of the department. The main focus of the laboratory is to conduct fundamental and applied scientific research in the following areas:

  • IT in the field of environmental monitoring.
  •  Systems of pattern recognition.
  •  Information technology in education.

List of projects

The faculty staff of Information Technologies annually participate in competitions of scientific projects for grant funding for scientific research. The projects reflect modern trends in the development of the economy, science, technology and technology. At the department, grant projects on IT-direction were implemented with the involvement of the faculty, doctoral students and undergraduates in the following subjects:

  • Development of an information and analytical system for monitoring the reserves and quality of groundwater in the Republic of Kazakhstan. The customer of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The executants: Rakhmetullina S.Zh., Bublikov A.A., Beldeubaeva J.B., Krivykh V.;
  • Development of methods and algorithms for image recognition for the evaluation of the qualitative composition of mineral rocks in the mining industry. The customer: the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The head: Baklanova O.E.;
  • Development of a software and hardware complex for the cleaning of dust and gas flows with the help of infrasound impact. The head: Blinaeva E.V. The executors: Smailova S.S.;
  • Creation of an infrastructure of educational statistics, monitoring and assessment of the quality of knowledge in the education system of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The executors: Denisova N.F., Uvaliyeva I.M., Smailova S.S.;

  • Development of an information technology for assimilation of environmental monitoring data in real time. The customer: the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The head: Rakhmetullina S.Zh., The executant: Belginova S.A.

  • International Collaboration

  • The department cooperates with the universities of near and far abroad. Agreements on cooperation with the following universities have been signed:
  • Lublin Technical University (Poland). Joint scientific research is carried out on the themes of dissertational works of doctoral students, the educational program of PhD is being implemented; internships for undergraduates and doctoral students; involving the professor in reading lectures and leading doctoral dissertations: Vujcik Waldemar, Marek Milosh;
  • USOS in the direction of IT-technology preparation of undergraduates (Russia, China, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan). The educational program of magistracy is realized in Information systems. The result: two diploma education;
  • Saint-Petersburg Research University of Information Technologies of Mechanics and Optics ITMO (Russia): joint scientific research on the themes of dissertational works of doctoral students is carried out, professors are invited to lecture and supervise doctoral dissertations: Bessmertny I.A.;
  • Wroclaw University (Poland): implementation of the academic mobility program for undergraduate and graduate students of the department;
  •  An agreement was concluded on the establishment of a joint international master's program with the Svenson College of Natural Sciences and University of Minnesota (Duluth, USA); internships for undergraduates are provided;
  •  With the State University of Library Science and Information Technology (Bulgaria), a joint activity agreement has been concluded allowing the internship of teachers under the TEMPUS PICTET project;
  • The contract on scientific research cooperation with the Institute of Computational Mathematics and Mathematical Geophysics of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences (Russia) is directed by a joint scientific research on the topics of dissertational works of doctoral students and allows to involve the professor in reading lectures and managing dissertations of doctoral students of the department;
  • An agreement on joint implementation of the project with the Ghent University (Belgium) (TEMPUS Project Coordinator) was concluded, based on the European Qualifications Framework, a professional ICT education for the Russian Federation and Kazakhstan.
  • Shevchenko Kyiv National University (Ukraine): joint scientific research is carried out on the themes of dissertational works of doctoral students, the involvement of professors in reading lectures and leading doctoral dissertations: Doctor of Technical Sciences. Krak Y.V.

Teachers of the department participate in TEMPUS programs: "Introduction of Master's program in information management in Kazakhstan"; "Training on ITK based on the EFQ (European Framework for Qualifications) for Russia and Kazakhstan"; "Qualification frameworks in Central Asia", project "QUADRIGA".

In the 2017-2018 academic year, Anthony Hetrick, a PhD student at Boyce University (USA), based on the Memorandum of Cooperation within the mobility program, conducts research on the topic "Using TAM to determine students' readiness for learning in Kazakhstan" and teaches "Information and Communication Technologies (in English)".
