Office of information educational technologies was established by the Decision of the university Academic Council from November 26, 2003 with name “Virtual Institute”, and the Rector’s Order from December 18, 2003, and it is a structural subdivision of EKTU.

In June 17, 2011 renamed the "Department of information educational technologies".

Office of information educational technologies carries out its activity in the area of training specialists of pre-university, university, and post-graduate programs of education; and it is also a structure which develops and implements modern information technologies and means of telecommunication in educational process.

The main activity direction of Office of information educational technologies is developing and implementing of new information and innovative technologies into the education process of the university:

• developing of electronic training and methodological materials;
• developing of software support of the Project “EKTU Educational Portal”, which presents the system of organization and control of the educational process with the use of modern information technologies and means of telecommunication;
• organization and conducting the educational process with the use of remote education methods.

Goals and Functions of the Subdivision:

• formation, development, and realization of the principles and technologies of open and remote education, providing rational transfer of knowledge and skills;
• carrying out scientific, training and methodological, and practical activity for creating, developing, and implementing of effective educational and professional programs and technologies; the system of remote education, first of all;
• carrying out of organizational and coordination work for creating and developing structures, which activity corresponds to the goals of Virtual Institute and promotes the expansion of remote education sphere.
