On October 11-12, 2011 the first year students of D. Serikbaev EKSTU economics and management department were lectured on the problems of religious extremism organizations increase in activity and attempts to destabilize the situation in our country.
The senior lecturer of the subdepartment of History of Kazakhstan and law Zhuk G.V. conducted the classes for the students of our department. Special attention was paid to the concept of secularism in Kazakhstan which contributes to the balance of interests between the religious and areligious citizens and to interconfessional peace and harmony in our society. However, recently Kazakhstan has faced a number of stiff challenges. And in the first place there is a problem of increased activity of the various religious radical groups.
The students got information about the activities of public associations prohibited in Kazakhstan, the ideas they promote, and learnt external characteristics to distinguish these organizations. The lecturer gave also information about forms of Islam traditional for our country. Thus, the Sunnism, one of the two main directions of Islam (along with Shiism), characteristic for Kazakhstan, was originally a moderate ideological trend blaming religious radicalism and extremism. Unfortunately, the lack of information often makes people follow such doubtful doctrines. That is why the informational content and the significance of such lectures have become especially important for our students today.
Associate Dean for academic affairs Zh. Aubakirova, Associate Dean for education S.K. Yerezhepova, and supervisor S.S. Urgusheva were present at a bilateral dialogue which was a success.
