A seminar on the theme: «Synergy in Training Engineers on Educational Programs in View Global Trends» was held at D. Serikbayev EKSTU within the network of international scientific-practical conference «Interdisciplinarity in Engineering Education: Global Trends and Management Concepts – SYNERGY» on June 1, 2016. The conducted seminar is a network session of this big event.

Representatives of out-of-town university (Shakarim state university of Semey city) and organization «Kazakhstan Program to Curb Climate Change (USAID)», teachers, students, undergraduates participated in the network session in D. Serikbayev EKSTU. A moderator of the seminar was
Oleg D. Gavrilenko, vice-rector on science and international cooperation of   D. Serikbaev EKSTU.

The following topical issues have been considered in the course of the seminar :

  • development of educational programs for training of engineers for industrial-innovative development of Kazakhstan;
  • interdisciplinarity  in engineering training at the university;
  • relevance of multilingual education;
  • work of students and teachers in international teams for the implementation of engineering projects;
  • problems and prospects of development of some branches  of East Kazakhstan region industry;
  • role of consistent potential development of academic teaching staff of the university;
  • using of actual and effective methods of teaching technical subjects in university;
  • results of case studies at the joint several areas of science.

The participants of the seminar  noted the importance of the following problems:

  • improvement of educational programs for training personnel with higher and postgraduate education, demanded by the country's economy;
  • development and improvement of language training of students and teachers in order to integrate into the world educational space;
  • development, search, development and application of effective technologies and methods of teaching subjects in university;
  • providing quality training of graduates with higher and postgraduate education through participation in interdisciplinary projects, including international ones;
  • development and maintenance a close relationship with industry to train engineering personnel.

During discussion of the submitted reports by participants of the seminar the following recommendations are developed:

  • it is necessary to develop integration of world scientists in the trend of engineering training ;
  • to create conditions to train highly qualified engineers through development of joint educational programs with partner-universities from neighboring countries and beyond. 
  • to create conditions to develop and improve teaching technologies in higher education institution and to acquire professional competences by students successfully;
  • interact with employers closely, leading partner universities in areas of training engineers through a multidisciplinary solution of practical and scientific problems;
  • to pay special attention to language training of students and teachers for development and efficient exchange of experience in training engineers
