In August 2024, as part of the implementation of the program-targeted financing project BR21882022 "Research of avalanche activity in the East Kazakhstan region for development of monitoring systems and scientific substantiation of their placement", studies of avalanche-prone slopes along the routes of the Taynty river and Layly river in Ulan and Samara districts of the East Kazakhstan region were conducted.

The research was carried out by scientists of the D. Serikbayev EKTU together with specialists of the Ionosphere Institute LLP, accompanied by employees of the State Institution Kazselezashchita. Avalanche-prone slopes were investigated using the Matrice-300 UAV. Slopes were photographed using high-precision equipment from the Australian company Emesent LIDAR Hovermap Plus. This type of equipment differs from analogues in increased accuracy and shooting with high point density for further construction of high-quality digital models.

In addition, avalanche-prone slopes were examined for morphology and vegetation, soil samples were taken and sites for installing sensors of monitoring system were selected.
