The problem of climate warming and achieving carbon neutrality are today one of the main topics of the international environmental agenda. On the basis of VKTU named after D. Serikbaev, in November 2021, the first Carbon Center in the Republic of Kazakhstan was created.

The prerequisites for its creation was the speech of the President of Kazakhstan at an international conference, where he noted that, despite the significant dependence on natural resources, Kazakhstan, among the first hundred countries, announced the achievement of carbon neutrality by 2060.

Our university is deploying a large-scale climate research project at its base. In this area, cooperation was organized with Russian colleagues from Tyumen State University, who arrived on September 6 to conduct the first explorations. And on September 7, a discussion of the current projects of EKTU and the possibility of their further joint implementation took place. This work will continue in the form of joint publications, research works and funded projects.
