Dear friends, respected colleagues! The beginning of summer has brought excellent news to our university!

On June 1, 2023, the results of the most cited ranking in the field of sustainable development, The Times Higher Education Impact Rankings, were published.

EKTU participated in the ranking for the first time and immediately entered the first thousand universities in the world (801-1000), and among Kazakhstani universities, it took 2nd place, sharing it with al-Farabi KazNU and Almaty University of Management.

THE Impact Rankings has a complex ranking system and does not assign a specific place to the university in the list, but correlates the achievements of the university with universities close in assessment. THE Impact Rankings explores the initiatives of universities around the world for the implementation of 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the UN. A separate assessment is given for each goal, and the achievements of the university in this direction are shown among international participants.

It is worth noting that EKTU presented 13 out of 15 SDGs for evaluation, which include not only issues in the "green" direction, as in the Green Metric rating. EKTU received the best results for the following SDGs:

  • SDG 6 Ensure availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all;
  • SDG 8 Promote sustained, inclusive and sustainable economic growth, full and productive employment and decent work for all;
  • SDG 9 Ensure sustainable consumption and production patterns.

This is not the first sustainability rating in which our university participates, for several years in a row EKTU confirms its status as the "greenest" university, occupying high positions in the global Green Metric rating. But a place in the ranking is not an end in itself. This assessment allows you to see the effectiveness of the huge work in the field of environmental protection and sustainable development, carried out by EKTU for several years, as well as to draw attention to environmental problems, to contribute more to their solution, both in the campus itself and in the world.

We congratulate our university on another "green" victory, we wish to achieve new heights on the path to improving well-being and protecting our planet!
