D. Serikbaev EKTU has opened a branch on the basis of the Ust-Kamenogorsk Thermal Power Plant (U-Ka TPP) in the direction of "Energy". It includes four classrooms for the educational programs "Heat Power Engineering" and "Electric Power Engineering"; the thermal power plant also has a training ground, a library with drawings, visual aids, technical and professional literature. The branch will become a key element of dual training for students to successfully master professional skills.

The cooperation between EKTU and U-Ka TPP has been going on for ten years, since the beginning of the provision of the TPP production site for the procedure of independent assessment of qualifications in eight professions with leading enterprises of East Kazakhstan region.

- Our cooperation makes it more effective in training young energy specialists. We are confident that future specialists will ensure uninterrupted operation of thermal power equipment, proper operation, repair and modernization of equipment, heating networks, air and gas pipelines. Energy is one of the most important parts of industry, which makes life easier for the people," noted EKTU Rector Saule Rakhmetullina.

Opening a branch is a broad opportunity for students to work directly with heating and electrical equipment and combine theoretical and practical knowledge in a timely manner. After graduation, the young specialist receives not only theoretical knowledge, but also practical skills in working at the thermal power plant itself. This minimizes the process of transition from theory to practice and allows graduate students to be ready to perform any assigned tasks in the workplace immediately after the employment, and to be more competitive in the labor market.

Dual training allows you to master the educational program and fully introduce students with the production of technological processes. Additionally, experienced workers and shop managers are actively involved in the process and, through their example and mentoring of young people, motivate them to their chosen professional activity.

EKTU has been training specialists for the energy industry of Kazakhstan for more than 20 years, and actively cooperates with energy and industrial enterprises in Eastern Kazakhstan. Nowadays, considering the high need of qualified and competent young specialists, opening such a branch is extremely important.
