Project summary:

Relevance. The formation of a high-tech environment on the university's territory is one of the necessary conditions for the sustainable functioning of the university's innovation ecosystem. At the present stage of the development of universities and the formation of a digital ecosystem, Smart space technologies are rapidly developing. If we consider the model of the university's digital ecosystem in a broad sense, then it should include digital services of a Smart Campus.

The main idea of the project is to develop digital services for a smart campus in the context of building a unified university ecosystem. The digital services of the smart campus are aimed at ensuring the safety of students and university staff, as well as improving the efficiency and reliability of evaluating learning outcomes.

The main problem that the project aims to solve is the problems of creating the concept of a "Smart Campus", in particular, the development of security services, within which the tasks of recognizing "similar in outline" letters and numbers of the license plate of vehicles and "fake personalities" for the access control system by biometric parameters will be solved. The problem will be solved by applying methods of mathematical modeling of real-time technological processes, adaptive control algorithms, as well as algorithms in the field of computer vision, pattern recognition and neural networks.

Main research methods: computer vision methods, methods of mathematical modeling of real-time technological processes, adaptive control algorithms, methods of designing high-performance systems.

Scope of application and target consumers of the results: education, smart home systems, smart city, crowded places, parking lots, gas stations, parking lots.

Goal:

The goal of the project is to form a new smart infrastructure of the university to ensure its qualitative transformation through the development of intelligent services based on computer vision technologies and the Internet of Things.

Expected and achieved results of the project:

Year The obtained research results.
Publications (with links to them) and patents; information for potential users.

2023

On-Line surveys for 3 categories (students, lecturers and software developers) of users on the digital ecosystem of the university were developed.

The survey was conducted in 3 universities: D. Serikbayev East Kazakhstan Technical University, S. Amanzholov East Kazakhstan University, Kazakhstan-American Free University. 723 respondents were surveyed.

The concept of Smart-infrastructure of higher education institution was developed. The scientific and methodological substantiation of the reference model of Smart-infrastructure of the university is developed. 2 schemes of Smart-infrastructure of universities are presented. Presented research results at two international conferences:

  • On-line presentation at the conference XIV ISPK ‘Development of modern science and technology in the conditions of transformation processes’ Moscow 22 September 2023 Subject of the report ‘Analysis of concepts of digital ecosystem of the university’;
  • In-person presentation at the International Scientific and Practical Conference ‘Computational and Information Technologies in Science, Engineering and Education’ (CITech-2023).

2024

The structure of the intellectual service ‘Safe University’ and the algorithm of the service operation are developed. The service includes: recognition service integrated with ACS; ‘Smart Parking’ service; service for recognition of students' behaviour at exams (proctoring). An automated intelligent service ‘Smart Parking’ has been developed.

For the intellectual service ‘Smart Parking’ algorithms for solving the problems of recognising ‘similar letters and digits’ (O-Q, Z-2, S-5, ...) have been developed.

A virtual impression of the object in front of the sensor is built, which allows to exclude the possibility of using flat photos when performing identification for ACS. Developed algorithms for analysing learner behaviour, determining the involvement of learners in the process of taking an exam based on media data. An algorithm for timing the detection of proctoring irregularities was developed.

The doctoral dissertation for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) of Muratuly Didar on the theme: ‘Development Of An Information And Analytical System For Constructing And Verifying A Subject's Behavior Model Based On Video Material Analysis’ on the educational programme 8D06101 - Information Systems (by branches) was defended.

2025

Algorithms for analyzing student behavior will be developed that determine the involvement of students in the exam process based on stored media data.
1 article or review will be submitted to a peer-reviewed scientific publication indexed in Science Citation
Index Expanded of the Web of Science database and (or) having a CiteScore percentile in the Scopus database of at least 50 (fifty).
A timing algorithm for detecting violations will be developed.
A mathematical model of a multi-criteria assessment of the examinee's behavioral model based on the criteria of timing, face position and noise will be developed.
A prototype of an intelligent system will be developed, including services: audio/video stream analysis, analysis and modeling of the subject's behavior, integration with the proctoring system, etc.
1 article or review will be submitted to a peer-reviewed scientific publication indexed in the Science Citation Index Expanded of the Web of Science database and (or) having a CiteScore percentile in the Scopus database of at least 50 (fifty).
