Project abstract
As a result of large-scale political, economic, and sociocultural changes in Kazakhstan at the end of the 20th century, the processes of forming new types of family structures began and continued in the 21st century. This led to a further complication of the system of interaction between the state, which is responsible for creating conditions for the development of the family in the format of a conceptually and normatively defined family policy, and other social institutions that actively participate in the processes of socialization (education, media, etc.), as well as the families themselves. Such concepts as "family" and "family values" are filled with different meanings in everyday practice, which hinders the formation of a constructive dialogue on strategic issues related to the quality of human capital and reduces the effectiveness of government programs to support families.
The authors of the project have identified the following range of issues that require scientific study:
- Identification of types of modern families, their characteristics and differences from each other, and the nature of their distribution across the country.
- Identifying the differences in the semantic content of the concepts "family", "family values", and "socialization goals" from the perspective of the state, which seeks to produce law-abiding citizens in today's and future generations, and specific families, which strive to achieve material well-being and social success.
- Determining the extent to which the activities of public institutions such as education and the media, as intermediaries between society and the state, are positively effective.
The need for a clear understanding of the characteristics of different types of families and the typological difference in their social needs is the foundation for developing effective family policies. The practical consequences of the project should include more effective inter-institutional communication, mutual understanding, and partnership that enhances the quality of human capital and sustainable development in Kazakhstan.
The purpose of the project
The study focuses on the transformation processes of the Kazakhstani family and the identification of its types, which have emerged in the context of urbanization and modernization of Kazakhstani society. This research aims to explore the effectiveness of socialization processes involving the family, the state, and other social institutions, and to develop new approaches to the development of family policy in Kazakhstan.
