Description and Achievements
The “Erkin Soz” Debate Club has been successfully operating at D. Serikbayev East Kazakhstan Technical University since November 2012.
Currently, the coordinator of the club is Zhambolatova Enlik.
The club functions on the principles of student self-governance. Organizers note that participation in debates significantly improves students’ oratory skills and helps them overcome stage fright and anxiety.
Debates serve as an excellent platform encouraging students to apply their public speaking abilities to discuss relevant social and political issues of Kazakhstan.
The main goal of the “Erkin Soz” Club is to develop students’ critical thinking skills, enabling them to analyze and solve problems in both professional and real-life situations.
Throughout its activity, the club has held more than 1,000 in-house games and over 100 tournaments at the city, regional, and national levels.
Members of “Erkin Soz” have repeatedly participated and won prizes in inter-university debates of all levels (city, regional, national).
To improve their professional skills, debaters participate in various debate formats — British Parliamentary, American Parliamentary, Lincoln–Douglas, and others.
