The laboratory was established in 1990 to solve practical tasks on orders of non-ferrous steel production plants related to the examination of the technical condition of industrial buildings and structures. Currently, the laboratory is working on the professional competences of students and undergraduates in the design of the reconstruction of buildings of the existing building. 

The purpose of the laboratory is to train bachelors and masters who have the skills to assess the technical condition of buildings in the existing building, assess their seismic safety, develop reconstruction and seismic projects. 

The tasks of the laboratory are to survey, assess the technical condition and repair suitability of construction structures of buildings and structures of various purposes; checking the construction structures of buildings and structures for the changed loads, taking into account the accumulated defects and damage; Develop recommendations for strengthening reinforced concrete, stone, metal and wooden structures of buildings and structures, foundations and foundations; Scientific and technical support for the implementation of the recommendations; Assessment of the industrial safety of buildings and facilities; Assessment of seismic safety, development of recommendations on seismic ation, reconstruction of buildings and structures, attic and additional floors with simultaneous seismic and seismic safety. The laboratory has modern equipment for surveying buildings and structures.
