The educational program "Water Resources and Water Use" is intended for the preparation of highly qualified innovatively oriented specialists in the field of water management and water use and forms:

• knowledge of the environmental principles of water use, management, protection and integrated use of water resources, the basics of hydraulics, the laws governing the formation of river flow, river water regimes, methods and methods of treatment;
• knowledge of the basics of designing waterworks and water management systems, rural water supply, irrigation of pastures and irrigation land reclamation;
• knowledge of basic operations for maintenance and repair of equipment of water utilities;
• the ability to perform calculations in the field of environmental water use and calculations for the design of elements of the water management system and hydroelectric facilities (water intake facilities, networks, pumping stations, water treatment plants), to choose the technology for water treatment;
• ability to evaluate the main operational parameters of the water management systems;
• skills in performing reconnaissance surveys of a reservoir, working with basic hydrological instruments, tools and equipment used in lake and river hydrometry;
• skills in performing measurements on water bodies, sampling and determining the physical and chemical parameters of water, in order to monitor the quality of water in a body of water, conduct hydrobiological and laboratory analysis using organisms - indicators according to the Mayer method and the bioassay method;
• skills of practical solution of tasks at the workplace as an executor at enterprises in the field of water management.

Graduates of the EP 6В08601 "Water Resources and Water Use" can hold the position of manager and specialists in the State Institution for the Protection and Use of Water Resources, design engineer, environmental engineer and engineer for the operation of water management systems and structures, hydrologist engineer, hydraulic engineer, laboratory assistant, hydrometer technique.

The objects of professional activity of graduates are::

• water and hydropower systems, complexes, industrial enterprises;
• hydraulic structures for various purposes;
• reclaimed land;
• research, design and engineering organizations.

Students of this educational program are trained on the basis of the Center for Competencies and Technology Transfer in the Field of Water Management and Water Use, created in 2019, which includes the Hydraulics laboratories, Integrated Water Resources Management, Pumps, Networks and Water Treatment, "Hydrochemistry".

Professional practice

Exploratory and hydrological (field) practices for 1st and 2nd year students are held at the «Prostor» Summer Expeditionary Campus, located on the banks of the Bukhtarma Reservoir.

Currently, classes in special disciplines of the educational program are taught by 1 doctor of sciences, 3 candidates of sciences and 5 masters. Among them, 1 candidate of sciences of the Russian Federation.

Students actively participate in Republican student subject Olympiads in their specialty, research and development competitions, National Olympiads and other projects and take prizes.

For students of the EP 6B08601 "Water resources and water use", since 2022, courses of working professions have been organized for the formation of basic engineering qualifications "Hydrologist, hydraulic engineer and integrated use and protection of water resources" with obtaining the appropriate certificate.

For students, there is a Student scientific and technical circle "AQUA", whose mission is:

• training of practice-oriented highly qualified specialists in the field of water management;
• activation of cognitive activity of the student, increase of independence, formation of necessary personal qualities./departments/as_dep/laboratory/akva.aspx

During the study period, our students actively participate in the life of the university, and also represent the university at regional, national and international competitions in many sports, are part of the Fun and Resourceful Club (КВН) teams.

After graduation, the student is awarded the academic degree of Bachelor of Agricultural Sciences in the educational program "6B08601 Water resources and water use".

After graduation, graduates have the opportunity to continue their studies in the magistracy of EKSTU in the specialty 7M07310 "Water supply and sewerage".

The employment of undergraduate graduates in 2021 was 85%.
