“Advance knowledge and develop new control technologies”
The doctoral programme in Automation and Control at the Non-Profit Joint-Stock Company “D. Serikbayev East Kazakhstan Technical University” is designed for those who aspire to advance engineering science, conduct independent research and educate specialists for a technology-driven future.
The programme combines advanced scientific training with the development of research and teaching competencies. It focuses on the automation of technical systems, modern control technologies and the scientific foundations of engineering solutions.
Programme Aim
To prepare researchers and educators with systematic knowledge of automation and control, a command of independent research methodology and the competencies required to develop new, scientifically grounded approaches to the control of complex technical systems.
The programme develops the ability to conduct research that contributes to engineering science, communicate findings to the professional community, integrate scientific advances into education and contribute to the training of specialists for science and industry.
What Will You Gain?
The programme develops the ability to:
- independently plan and conduct scientific research;
- critically analyse current advances in science and technology;
- develop and evaluate solutions in automation and control;
- communicate research findings through scholarly publications and professional discussions;
- undertake teaching activities and share research expertise;
- contribute to research teams and interdisciplinary projects.
Professional settings include government bodies and educational institutions, national and sectoral academies of sciences, scientific organisations, research institutes, research universities, university research laboratories, research and development design bureaus, shared-use laboratories, and research units within organisations whose principal activity is not scientific or scientific and technological research.
Career Prospects
The competencies acquired are relevant to universities, research institutes, engineering centres, design organisations and corporate research units. The programme provides a foundation for an academic career, research supervision and participation in technological development.
Types of Professional Activity
Research: identifying significant scientific problems, formulating and testing hypotheses, developing mathematical models and control methods, conducting computational and physical experiments, analysing and synthesising research findings, and preparing scholarly publications and a doctoral dissertation.
Research and teaching: teaching subjects in automation and control, developing educational and teaching materials, applying modern teaching approaches, supervising students’ research-based learning and integrating findings from one’s own research into education.
Engineering design and technology development: establishing the scientific basis for design decisions, developing algorithms and software for control systems, defining requirements for automation hardware, and modelling and evaluating the performance of proposed systems.
Industrial and technological practice: investigating existing automation systems, assessing their efficiency and reliability, and developing proposals to improve control algorithms and modernise hardware and software systems.
Organisation and management: planning scientific research, coordinating research teams, managing scientific and technological research projects, providing expert assessments of proposed solutions and developing professional collaboration.
