The educational program " Mechanics and metalworking" is designed for professional formation and intellectual development of a masters in mechanical engineering with innovative thinking, groundbreaking technologies in modern industry, able to integrate in the conditions of world machine-building business and solving socially significant problems of national and regional machine-building market and is designed to prepare the graduate to:

• pedagogical activity;
• creating competitive engineering products based on the study of science and technology sections containing a set of tools, techniques, methods and methods of human activity;
• application of modern methods of design, mathematical, physical and computer modeling of technological processes;
• using design and technological Informatics and computer-aided design tools;
• creating quality management systems for specific production conditions based on international standards;
• conducting marketing research to find optimal solutions when creating products that meet the requirements of quality, reliability and cost, as well as the timing of its production, life safety and environmental cleanliness.

The objects of professional activity of graduates are machine-building enterprises and organizations of all forms of ownership, as well as:

• engineering production facilities,
• process equipment and tool equipment;
• technological equipment and means of mechanization and automation of technological processes in mechanical engineering;
• production processes, their development and development of new technologies;
• means of information, metrological, diagnostic and management support of technological systems to achieve the quality of manufactured products;
• normative and technical documentation, standardization and certification systems, methods and tools for testing and quality control of mechanical engineering products;
• the management bodies of the enterprise;
• organizations of state and non-state ownership, including industry, transport and communications, agriculture and utilities, military-industrial complex, production and consumption.

The educational program – Mechanics and metalworking, in contrast to other engineering specialties of our University (which have mainly a design specialization) is mainly aimed at technological preparation of production and involves two specializations:

• Engineering technology, metal-cutting machines and tools;
• Equipment and technology of welding production.

For training, oriented on development of professional competencies, concluded the contract on joint cooperation and organization of practical base with machine-building enterprises (JSC "Hydrocelectomy", JSC "Ust-Kamenogorsk industrial valves plant", JSC "Ust-Kamenogorsk valve plant JSC, Vostokmashzavod"), which hosts field trips, educational and industrial practices.

Regular excursions are held for undergraduates of the educational program " Mechanics and metalworking" of EKTU D. Serikbayev in leading enterprises of Ust-Kamenogorsk.

Our undergraduates regularly undergo foreign research internships, including at the Wroclaw technical University (Wroclaw, Poland, faculty of mechanics) and the Altai state University. Polzunova (Barnaul, Russia).

In summer, you can relax in the recreation center "Prostor", located on the Bank of the Bukhtarma reservoir.

When implementing an educational program, it is mandatory to involve students in research work. The subject of scientific works is determined by the existing enterprises of Ust-Kamenogorsk and the region, and agreements on scientific and technical cooperation have been signed with them (Vostokmashzavod JSC, Ust-Kamenogorsk rebar plant JSC, Ulbinsky metallurgical plant JSC, Mashzavod LLP, Hydrostalconstruction JSC, kazzinkmash LLP, kazzinkteh JSC (Ridder), kazzinktech LLP, etc. enterprises of the city and region), as well as practical training, assistance in course, diploma projects, and research. The results of scientific research of students are regularly published in publications of national and international significance.

Undergraduates take an active part in competitions of master's scientific papers, in Republican and International scientific conferences of young scientists and undergraduates, sports competitions.

At the Republican subject Olympiads in the specialty, undergraduates annually take prizes.

After graduation, the student is awarded a master's degree in the educational program 7М07111 " Mechanics and metalworking".

After completing the master's degree, graduates have the opportunity to continue their studies in the EKSTU doctoral program in the specialty 8D07102 "Mechanical engineering".
