Center for Educational Technology

Center for Educational Technology (CET) is a structural subdivision of D. Serikbaev EKTU department of academic affairs.

The main goal of CET is to implement modern educational technologies in the University educational process to raise the level and access to education.

Objectives:

  • Provide technical and methodological assistance to the faculty in developing online and blended courses;
  • Provide methodological and pedagogical support to integrate online and blended learning in a traditional education environment;
  • Integrate learning management systems (LMS) in everyday pedagogical processes to support elearning;
  • Monetize EKTU online courses;
  • Develop distributed learning at EKTU
    • Locate online learning resources from partner universities or on online learning platforms
    • Work with EKTU faculty to place content on online platforms as open or paid courses
  • Implementation of innovative educational technologies;

CET bases its work on industry standards, modern e-learning practices and educational technologies to enhance education at EKTU. 

Functions of CET

  • Training and assistance to faculty - CET provides methodological, educational, and organizational assistance to achieve the stated goals of using industry standards for e-learning, teaching and consulting faculty, and developing an online learning environment:
    • Assisting the faculty to create online or blended courses by providing technical and methodological assistance and pedagogical design;
    • Providing the necessary tools for developing and teaching courses online;
    • Training e-learning methods;
    • Providing standardized course structures, format, and templates;
    • Conducting training aimed at mastering practical skills in creating online and blended courses;
    • Training in the use of essential tools for creating online courses;
    • Instructional design using online or blended learning techniques to create e-learning materials;
    • Methods of teaching online asynchronously.
  • Developing standards and guidelines for online and blended learning courses using best practices and standard course design methods. The guidelines contain essential principles, templates, and detailed information about the educational design, pedagogy, and assessment.
  • CET assists the faculty in mastering modern e-learning tools, conducts methodological training and pedagogical seminars.
  • Learning Management Systems (LMSs): Open edX for video-based courses and independent learning, Moodle for blended learning or static materials, and Google Classroom for collaborative learning.
  • Faculty training focuses entirely on creating online and blended courses by (1) conducting seminars on course development and pedagogy, (2) creating instructions and developing an online course for faculty, (3) practical guides, recommendations, and seminars.
  • CET aims to create an online learning environment similar to the world's leading universities, using industry-standard tools and best practices in e-learning.
