Sociocultural portraits of generations: Kazakhs born in 1950-1960 and 1970-1980
Short description
International Research Center “Digital Social Research” has begun publishing its research in a new format, i.e., an information and analytical booklet. The first publication contains the results of applying a rarely used method - social portrait. This method allows you to form a general idea of a particular social group based on generalized empirical data and considering the special characteristics of the subject of study. In this case, we are talking about socio-cultural portraits of Kazakhs born in 1950–1960 and 1970–1980.
The booklet reflects the conditions of early socialization (childhood and school years), education and professional choice, the implementation of family-reproductive scenarios, attitudes towards traditions and religious attitudes, as well as several other essential parameters characteristic of representatives of these generations. The presented materials are part of the results of the grant project “Kazakhs as the demographic potential of Kazakhstan: retrospective and development prospects”, implemented by the centre. We also aim to introduce students, master's students, doctoral students, members of the scientific community and all interested parties in a brief and accessible form to the results of the implementation of other projects and research carried out by employees of the Digital Social Research International Research Center over the past years.
We hope that the new format will contribute to popularising scientific knowledge and attract the attention of a wide range of readers to the issues of Kazakhstan's socio-demographic development.
