Description: "Fundamentals of life and survival in emergencies" – a discipline that studies methods of safe interaction of a person with the environment (industrial , domestic, urban, natural), stable functioning of economic management facilities (organizations) in emergency situations, protection from negative factors, prevention of natural and man-made emergencies and elimination of their consequences and the use of modern means of damage.

Goal
  • The purpose of the discipline is to master the amount of theoretical knowledge and practical skills necessary to solve the tasks: - creating normal conditions in the areas of labor activity and recreation of a person; - development and implementation of measures to protect a person and his habitat from harmful effects; - design new equipment and technological processes in accordance with modern requirements for the safety of their use; - stability of the functioning of economic management objects and technical systems in normal conditions and in emergencies; - forecasting and assessment of the consequences of an emergency; -protection of the population, production personnel from the consequences of accidents, accidents, natural disasters and making decisions on the use of modern means of damage, as well as taking measures to eliminate them.
Objective
  • Ensuring security; - theoretical foundations of legal, socio-economic, technical, hygienic and organizational measures to ensure safety; - practical application of the laws of the Republic of Kazakhstan in natural and man-made emergencies.

  • - Knows and understands the basic laws in the field of emergency situations; - develops measures to ensure the safety and environmental friendliness of production activities;-plans and implements measures to increase the sustainability of production activities of economic facilities;-plans measures to protect production personnel and the population in emergencies.

Teaching methods

When conducting training sessions, it is envisaged to use the following educational technologies: - interactive lecture (use of the following active forms of training: slave (controlled) discussion or conversation; moderation; demonstration of slides or educational films; brainstorming; motivational speech); - creation of scenarios for the development of various situations based on given conditions; - information and communication (for example, lessons in a computer class using professional packages of Applied programs);-search and research (independent research activities of students in the educational process); - solving educational tasks.

Assessment of the student's knowledge

Teacher oversees various tasks related to ongoing assessment and determines students' current performance twice during each academic period. Ratings 1 and 2 are formulated based on the outcomes of this ongoing assessment. The student's learning achievements are assessed using a 100-point scale, and the final grades P1 and P2 are calculated as the average of their ongoing performance evaluations. The teacher evaluates the student's work throughout the academic period in alignment with the assignment submission schedule for the discipline. The assessment system may incorporate a mix of written and oral, group and individual formats.

The student's final grade in the course is calculated on a 100 point grading scale, it includes:

  • 40% of the examination result;
  • 60% of current control result.

The final grade is calculated by the formula:
