Description: The course focuses on the formation of linguistic, discursive and socio-cultural competence of postgraduates, access to the culture of a target language, acquisition of professional speech skills, development of translation skills in a professional sphere. The course includes grammar review, preparation for writing assignments, reading, listening and speaking techniques.

Goal
  • Teaching foreign languages at the tertiary level, both profile and research areas, is aimed at mastering by future masters of the language for professional and academic purposes at an advanced level, which will allow them to freely operate the scientific and conceptual apparatus of the specialty, to expand the scientific and information base, to master the skills of interpretation of scientific information, arguments, beliefs, scientific controversy, and academic writing. The main purpose of teaching a foreign language at the tertiary level is systematic deepening of communicative competence in the framework of international standards of foreign language education on the basis of further development of skills and skills of active language proficiency in the professional activities of a future master degree holder.
Objective
  • The following specific educational objectives of teaching the “Foreign language” discipline: The course objectives: - improving the skills of oral communication in a foreign language in monological and dialogic forms on the basis of the development of skills of argument and debate in the framework of general scientific and scientific-professional issues; - further development of skills of reading foreign literature in Economics and Business, as well as articles of social and political orientation with the subsequent processing and interpretation of the extracted information; - training in written explication of scientific information in a foreign language in generally accepted basic forms; - the study of linguistic characteristics of the genres of business speech, official and scientific functional styles in the profile of specialist training; - improving the skills of translation of texts from a foreign language into the language of instruction and from the language of instruction into a foreign language by the material of authentic texts of general scientific and professional orientation; - further improvement of listening skills on the material of professionally-oriented content.
