Structural systems of buildings and finishing materials
Description: The theoretical part examines the main structural systems and layouts of buildings; types of load-bearing elements that absorb loads and impacts, their relationship, requirements for structures, operating conditions, prospects for use in conjunction with the construction and decorative finishing materials used. Practical classes develop skills in reading and depicting architectural and structural drawings; the selection of finishing materials is carried out, the variability of technological solutions is considered on the basis of artistic, aesthetic, economic, constructive and technological criteria.

Learning outcome: knowledge and understanding
- have skills in collecting information, analyzing a structural solution; know the impact of the structural system of the building on the planning solution; understand the classification of building products; know the relationship between the composition, structure and properties of building materials, methods of forming the specified structure and properties of materials with maximum resource saving, as well as methods for assessing their quality indicators;
Learning outcome: applying knowledge and understanding
- be able to read architectural and construction drawings; be able to present the author's plan in the form of drawings; be able to use the knowledge gained about the structural systems of buildings to independently solve design problems; apply modern methods of setting, researching and solving problems of construction materials science;
Learning outcome: formation of judgments
- master the ability to critically evaluate the process and design results; proficient in professional terminology and reasoning; be able to adapt in new situations, reassess the accumulated experience, analyze their capabilities;
Learning outcome: communicative abilities
- have professional communication skills in the design process; own methods of project presentation, applied structural solutions, used construction and finishing materials;
Learning outcome: learning skills or learning abilities
- have skills in expanding professional knowledge, the ability to search and assimilate new information.
Teaching methods
Lectures, watching videos, working on the Internet using the suggested links; practical work on educational topics; layout modeling; independent work of students in the learning process.
Assessment of the student's knowledge
Teacher oversees various tasks related to ongoing assessment and determines students' current performance twice during each academic period. Ratings 1 and 2 are formulated based on the outcomes of this ongoing assessment. The student's learning achievements are assessed using a 100-point scale, and the final grades P1 and P2 are calculated as the average of their ongoing performance evaluations. The teacher evaluates the student's work throughout the academic period in alignment with the assignment submission schedule for the discipline. The assessment system may incorporate a mix of written and oral, group and individual formats.

Evaluation form
The student's final grade in the course is calculated on a 100 point grading scale, it includes:
- 40% of the examination result;
- 60% of current control result.
The final grade is calculated by the formula:
| FG = 0,6 | MT1+MT2 | +0,4E |
| 2 |
Where Midterm 1, Midterm 2are digital equivalents of the grades of Midterm 1 and 2;
E is a digital equivalent of the exam grade.
Final alphabetical grade and its equivalent in points:
The letter grading system for students' academic achievements, corresponding to the numerical equivalent on a four-point scale:
