The instructor profile

Description: The discipline studies methods and technologies for applying protective coatings on the surface of metal parts to increase their resistance to various influences such as corrosion, wear, abrasion and others. Undergraduates study the types of protective coatings, their properties, methods of application and quality control. The course also includes the study of the latest technologies and materials used in this field. As a result, undergraduates acquire skills in the development and application of protective coatings to ensure the durability and reliability of metal structures in mechanical engineering.

Goal
  • The purpose of the study is to familiarize undergraduates with special coatings used to give the surface special properties (wear resistance, hardness, electrical insulation, magnetic properties, etc.), as well as the restoration of worn parts. To study the types of resistance tests for corrosion coatings in which the corrosion load on a part is close to its operating conditions.
Objective
  • - give undergraduates an idea of special technologies, their application in various branches of technology; - introduce practically some of the technologies for obtaining special products.
Learning outcome: knowledge and understanding
  • Use rational methods of application coating technique in mechanical engineering and technological equipment
Learning outcome: applying knowledge and understanding
  • the types of resistance tests for corrosion coatings in which the corrosion load on a part is close to its operating conditions
Learning outcome: formation of judgments
  • the types of resistance tests for corrosion coatings in which the corrosion load on a part is close to its operating conditions
Learning outcome: communicative abilities
  • convince colleagues of the correctness of the chosen decisions; - involve executors in active participation in the implementation of implemented solutions.
Learning outcome: learning skills or learning abilities
  • have an idea about the latest special methods and technologies, equipment and materials used.

Assessment of the student's knowledge

Teacher oversees various tasks related to ongoing assessment and determines students' current performance twice during each academic period. Ratings 1 and 2 are formulated based on the outcomes of this ongoing assessment. The student's learning achievements are assessed using a 100-point scale, and the final grades P1 and P2 are calculated as the average of their ongoing performance evaluations. The teacher evaluates the student's work throughout the academic period in alignment with the assignment submission schedule for the discipline. The assessment system may incorporate a mix of written and oral, group and individual formats.

Period Type of task Total
1  rating First midterm test Assignment 0-100
2  rating Second midterm test Assignment 0-100

Evaluation form

The student's final grade in the course is calculated on a 100 point grading scale, it includes:

  • 40% of the examination result;
  • 60% of current control result.

The final grade is calculated by the formula:

FG = 0,6 MT1+MT2 +0,4E
