Description: The discipline covers methodology and practice of pre-project landscape studies, typology and theoretical foundations of formation of modern landscapes, features and current trends of landscape design of open spaces of different hierarchical levels, taking into account socio-economic, urban planning, environmental and aesthetic factors.

Goal

To provide students with an understanding of the principles of landscape design at different hierarchical levels in a modern city.

Objective

learning specific terminology in the field of landscape design;
learning and mastering landscape design techniques;
mastering and applying land assessment methods based on architectural and landscape analysis;
Gaining skills in the development and design of project documentation in the process of designing the architectural and landscape organisation of urban space.

Learning outcome: knowledge and understanding

To know the basic regulations, methods of pre-project studies for landscape design and landscape reconstruction of gardens and parks; stages of design and composition of design and estimate documentation;
Have a command of specialist terminology and vocabulary in the field of study;
Have knowledge of the basic principles and techniques of architectural and landscape design of the green space system and its elements;
Have knowledge of the achievements of international and domestic experience and science in landscape design;

Learning outcome: applying knowledge and understanding

Conducting and processing fieldwork independently in the process of architectural and landscape analysis of an area;
Develop projects for the landscaping of small gardens within the structure of urban spaces;

Learning outcome: formation of judgments

Independently propose and develop conceptual sketch ideas and research hypotheses in the field of landscape design, taking into account a set of factors, including the principles of ecological and sustainable development of the territory;

Learning outcome: communicative abilities

Present and argue their ideas in the professional community when solving problems in landscape design;

Learning outcome: learning skills or learning abilities

Develop technical specifications for the construction and renovation of a landscape architecture object;
Identify problematic issues and determine the research process to address them.

Teaching methods

Traditional technologies are used in conjunction with innovative technologies.

Assessment of the student's knowledge

Teacher oversees various tasks related to ongoing assessment and determines students' current performance twice during each academic period. Ratings 1 and 2 are formulated based on the outcomes of this ongoing assessment. The student's learning achievements are assessed using a 100-point scale, and the final grades P1 and P2 are calculated as the average of their ongoing performance evaluations. The teacher evaluates the student's work throughout the academic period in alignment with the assignment submission schedule for the discipline. The assessment system may incorporate a mix of written and oral, group and individual formats.

Evaluation form

The student's final grade in the course is calculated on a 100 point grading scale, it includes:

40% of the examination result;
60% of current control result.

The final grade is calculated by the formula:

Where Midterm 1, Midterm 2are digital equivalents of the grades of Midterm 1 and 2;

E is a digital equivalent of the exam grade.
