When submitting an application for procurement, departments need to include the parameters of life cycle of products in the list of characteristics of goods and services. In order to ensure the environmental safety of the product or service and reduce resource consumption and environmental impact at all stages of the product's life.
This will allow the university to:
- reduce pollution of water, air and soil with toxic compounds;
- remove the most harmful substances from production;
- reduce the volume of industrial waste, including those buried in landfills;
- increase the share of renewable resources in the production of goods and services.
The characteristics can include:
- energy consumption class requirements for appliances and equipment;
- availability of a quality certificate;
- information about the raw materials from which the products are made, indicating the percentage of secondary raw materials;
- information about the possibility of recycling and reuse of product materials, including packaging;
- information about the carbon and water footprint of products.
