The Concept of the Greening System for the City of Ust-Kamenogorsk is a student architectural project developed at D. Serikbayev East Kazakhstan Technical University within the 7B07301 – Architecture educational program. The project was prepared by Darya Tarasova under the supervision of Tatyana Inozemtseva, Candidate of Architecture and Senior Lecturer.
The project aims to create an integrated urban green infrastructure that enhances the environmental quality, climate resilience, and visual identity of Ust-Kamenogorsk. The proposed concept includes the development of interconnected parks, green corridors, recreational areas, riverfront landscapes, and public open spaces, forming a continuous ecological framework throughout the city.
The greening strategy is based on the principles of sustainable urban planning and landscape architecture. It promotes biodiversity conservation, improves air quality, mitigates the urban heat island effect, and increases the accessibility of green spaces for residents. The concept also emphasizes the use of native plant species, sustainable landscaping practices, and multifunctional public spaces that combine ecological, recreational, and social functions.
The project demonstrates how student research and design can contribute to solving real urban challenges while supporting the sustainable development of Ust-Kamenogorsk. It also highlights the role of EKTU in preparing future architects capable of developing innovative and environmentally responsible solutions for modern cities.
