Students' Alley is a joint initiative of D. Serikbayev East Kazakhstan Technical University and the Akimat of Ust-Kamenogorsk aimed at creating a modern public space for students, faculty members, and city residents. The new recreational area will be located in the Student Campus district, between S. Amanzholov East Kazakhstan University and D. Serikbayev East Kazakhstan Technical University, creating a shared public space that connects the two largest universities in the region.
The project is based on the principles of sustainable urban development and includes the construction of pedestrian walkways, recreational areas, modern lighting, landscaping, and contemporary street furniture. Particular attention is given to creating a comfortable, safe, and accessible environment that encourages social interaction, recreation, and the organization of cultural and educational events in an open-air setting.
One of the project's key features is the active involvement of students in developing the concept of the future alley. The best architectural and landscape design proposals are selected through a student design competition, ensuring that the space reflects the needs and expectations of young people while strengthening their sense of belonging to the university community. The project also serves as an important component of the EKTU campus development strategy and contributes to improving the quality of the urban environment by integrating education, sustainability, and innovative approaches to public space design.
