PaperCycle is a student startup developed at D. Serikbayev East Kazakhstan Technical University to promote on-site recycling of paper waste through a compact mini-line designed for small-scale applications. The system enables waste paper to be processed directly where it is generated, eliminating the need to transport recyclable materials to external processing facilities.
The project supports the principles of the circular economy by extending the life cycle of paper resources, reducing waste generation, conserving natural resources, and lowering carbon emissions associated with transportation. The proposed solution is suitable for universities, schools, offices, and other organizations that generate relatively small amounts of paper waste.
The initiative provides students with practical experience in sustainable engineering, waste management, and resource-efficient technologies while encouraging innovation in environmental solutions. PaperCycle demonstrates how small-scale recycling technologies can make campuses more sustainable and contribute to responsible resource management within the university and beyond.
