The main campus of EKTU is located within the urban area of the city. It has the largest territory among all EKTU campuses situated in the city, covering 385,962 m². The campus is open to the public and serves not only as an educational environment but also as an important recreational and green public space for local residents. It features pedestrian walkways, landscaped recreational areas, and open-access green spaces that encourage walking, outdoor activities, and community engagement.

The main campus shares a unified territory with the university's student residence halls. This area extends from one of the city's peripheral streets to the riverside zones of the Ulba and Irtysh rivers. It includes an arboretum, a nursery of ornamental and Red Book plant species, providing valuable habitats for local biodiversity and serving as an outdoor educational resource for students and visitors. The extensive green infrastructure contributes to improved air quality, a favorable microclimate, and a comfortable environment for study, recreation, and environmental education.

EKTU's architectural community has developed a large-scale redevelopment project for the public open spaces of the main campus. The project aims to transform the campus into a modern, inclusive, and sustainable urban environment by creating landscaped walking areas, children's and sports playgrounds, pet-friendly exercise and walking areas equipped with training facilities, an open-air amphitheater for cultural events, and a variety of other attractive public spaces. Once completed, the redevelopment will further strengthen the campus's role as an accessible community space that promotes healthy lifestyles, social interaction, and sustainable urban development.
