In the Palace of Culture of Metallurgists was held a classical music concert devoted to the 170th anniversary of the birth of the great thinker and poet Abay organized by D.Serikbayev EKSTU. In the concert hall came faculty, staff and students of the university. The Senator of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Academician of NAS RK, known professor abaeved Garifulla Yesimov opened the concert and led it.

- I am very pleased that this event is organized and was led by D.Serikbayev EKSTU by its Rector, doctor of biological sciences, professor Zhassulan Shaimardanov, whom I know very well and respect him - said Garifulla Yesimov.

He appealed to the student youth and admonished them to follow the path of Abay.

- It is necessary to read poetry and works of Abay each year so that to become a real Man and then you do not lose your true path - said abaeved.

Then he introduced honored artist of Kazakhstan, laureate of the State Prize of RK, principal of the State Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre named after Shakhimardan Abay Abilov, who has devoted his creative experience to Abay's songs. From the stage of the Palace of Culture of Metallurgists in that day flowed lyrical music, songs of Abay, his songs written on poems by Russian and foreign poets translated into Kazakh language, as well as songs written in different years by composers inspired by the genius of the poet. Shakhimardan Abilov performed songs and romances, "Zhelsіz tynde zharyk ah", "Bіreuden bіreu artylsa", "Segіz ayak", "Kor boldy zhanym", "Boyi bylgan", "Karakat", "Kozіmnіn karasy" and many others. Students and teachers of EKSTU with enthusiasm listened to the songs written by Abay, to poems of Pushkin, Lermontov, Krylov, Goethe and other poets, which musicologists is rightly considered the first Kazakh romances, and of Abay - founder of the musical genre of Kazakh classical music. The concert ended with a wonderful song "Aittym salem, Kalamkas" that Hall echoed with Shakhimardan Abilov.
