On 29 September 2025, D. Serikbayev East Kazakhstan Technical University (EKTU) held an organizational meeting for first-year doctoral students with the participation of Member of the Board - Vice-Rector for Science and Innovation Zhadyra Konurbayeva. The event brought together first-year doctoral students, heads of doctoral degree programs, school deans, and leading research staff. The meeting was moderated by Yelena Ivashchenko, Leading Research of the Research Project Support Office (SoP office)
Addressing the participants, Zhadyra Konurbayeva welcomed the new cohort and emphasized the University’s priority of advancing scientific research, the need for strict adherence to academic standards, research ethics, and the culture of scholarly publishing. She also highlighted the importance of building individual learning trajectories, timely organization of research activities, and regular engagement with academic supervisors and administrative units to achieve planned outcomes.
During the meeting, the documented procedure «Training of Doctors of Philosophy (PhD) and Industrial Doctorates (by profile) at «D. Serikbayev EKTU»» NJSC was presented and explained in detail, alongside the rules for forming doctoral students’ personal files in both paper and electronic formats and the regulations for interim attestation. Shynar Blanova, a top-category specialist of the Student Service Center within the Department for Academic Affairs, outlined the requirements for developing and approving the Individual Study Plan (ISP), including the selection of courses, research seminars, and completion timelines. Samat Baigereyev, moderator of the University’s academic journal, presented opportunities for publication in the Bulletin of D. Serikbayev EKTU, describing the editorial policy, selection criteria, and manuscript formatting requirements. Additional organizational matters related to the start of the academic year were also considered.
The doctoral students received comprehensive answers to questions on attestation, compilation of personal files, ISP planning, and publication activity. The meeting concluded by noting that EKTU consistently develops its research environment and supports early-career doctoral researchers by ensuring transparent regulations as well as methodological and advisory support. The University remains open to constructive dialogue and collaboration, creating conditions for the successful implementation of research projects and for building a highly qualified human capital pool.
