We live in an era where every choice we make affects the future of our planet. Single-use plastic surrounds us everywhere - bottles, packaging, bags. But do we truly understand the trace it leaves behind? Millions of tons of plastic enter the environment each year, polluting soil, rivers, and seas, damaging ecosystems, and posing a threat to human health.
For several years, D. Serikbayev EKTU has been implementing a waste separation policy, with special attention to plastic. Plastic waste is collected on campus through eco-boxes and reverse vending machines and sent for recycling.
In Kazakhstan, the 3.2.1.Start! project has been actively promoting plastic waste separation and youth engagement for several years now. This project inspires real action. It helps people learn how to sort waste, especially plastic, making the first step toward conscious consumption and a sustainable future. This is more than just ecology - it is a culture of careful attitude toward nature that we build together.
EKTU is one of the active participants in the project. The university has become an important part of the environmental movement, spreading waste sorting practices among students and staff. Through environmental education and participation in such initiatives, EKTU makes a significant contribution to a cleaner tomorrow.
All plastic collected by the university is sent for recycling and gets a second life.
