On November 18, 2025, representatives of D. Serikbayev East Kazakhstan Technical University (EKTU) participated in the Sustainable Gambling Conference 2025, held at the Maison de la Poste conference center in Brussels, Belgium. Their participation was carried out within the framework of the AP26101217 «Comprehensive study and preventive model of gambling addiction in Kazakhstan: an interdisciplinary approach», aimed at studying the factors contributing to gaming addiction and developing scientifically grounded prevention mechanisms. The conference brought together industry experts, regulators, research centers, and public organizations under the theme: «Collaboration for Impact: Safer Gambling in a Changing World».
The main objective of the EKTU delegation's participation was to explore international best practices in sustainable gambling and Responsible Gambling, as well as to strengthen professional connections with foreign researchers and organizations. During discussions and expert sessions, participants addressed issues of research ethics, responsible innovation, digital monitoring of behavioral risks, and the development of interdisciplinary models for preventing gaming addiction.
The conference program included plenary sessions, panel discussions, and specialized workshops dedicated to gambling regulation, analysis of the socio-economic impact of gaming activity, and enhancement of consumer protection. The presentations provided participants with insights into contemporary methodological approaches, international analytics, and innovative solutions for ensuring safety and sustainability in the gambling environment.
Participation of EKTU scientists in the Sustainable Gambling Conference 2025 strengthened the university's international research collaboration, expanded the research prospects of the AP26101217 project, and contributed to the development of competencies in responsible gambling behavior and gaming addiction prevention. The knowledge gained, new partnerships, and access to international practices provide a solid foundation for the further implementation of interdisciplinary research and for enhancing EKTU's position in the global academic and scientific arena.
