The Department of Research Activities of D. Serikbayev EKTU held a master class for young scientists, doctoral, postdoctoral students and professors to spark the interest of students in their subject.
The event was attended by such speakers as: Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor of the International School of Engineering Dudkin Mikhail Vasilyevich (Hirsch index in the Scopus database - 17) - Honored Inventor of the Republic of Kazakhstan with experience as head of state-funded scientific grants and commercialization of grant results; Doctor of Technical Sciences, Associate Professor of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of the Lublin University of Technology Arkadiusz Gola (Hirsch index - 17 in Web of Science and 22 in Scopus) - author and co-author of six scientific monographs, 94 scientific articles and 87 chapters. In 2020, 2021 and 2022, he was included in the list of the 2% most cited researchers in the world; Candidate of Economic Sciences, Associate Professor, Professor of the Business School Nurekenova Elvira Sobetollaevna (Hirsch index in Scopus -7) - member of the National Scientific Council in the field of science "Research in the field of social sciences and Humanities", full member (academician) of the International Academy of Informatization (Kazakhstan), member of the Association of Legal Entities "Association "Eurasian Economic Club scientists", an expert on the accreditation programs of the external audit of the Independent Agency for Quality Assurance in Education (IQAA), an academic expert of QS (QuaquarelliSymonds).
The speakers shared the information about the differences between the Scopus and Web of Science platforms, what advantages and disadvantages the Hirsch index has, how publishing activities affect scientific careers, the contribution of citations in science, how Hirsch index corresponds to the category of scientists, and the possibility of increasing the effectiveness of scientific activities at the university as well as the ways in which authors can increase the citation of their publications.
In addition, the speakers shared useful tips and tricks with colleagues, talked about useful cases from their scientific experience and answered the questions of young scientists.
