A CDIO project fair was held at D. Serikbayev East Kazakhstan Technical University (EKTU) as part of the course “Introduction to Engineering Education.” The event featured first-year students, who presented 45 original and creative engineering solutions.

The fair had a competitive format and served as a platform for showcasing the innovative thinking and practical skills of future engineers. Among the projects presented, special attention was drawn to such developments as the "cold pillow", a mechanical arm, an electronic hourglass, a smart helmet helmet, sneakers with an automatic lacing system, etc.

A special feature of the event was the electronic voting system: all attendees and participants could vote for their favorite project via a dedicated digital platform. This interactive format put the final decision in the hands of the audience, making the competition even more engaging.

The winners were determined based on the results of the voting.:

  • 1st Place – “Power Station” (Group 24-GMK-1)
  • 2nd Place – “Sуға батпайтын үй” (Flood-Resistant House) (Group 24-TMK-1)
  • 3rd Place – “Horizontal Converter for Crude Copper Smelting” (Group 24-MT-1)

Events like this contribute to the development of students’ engineering competencies, fostering project-based thinking and teamwork skills.

The CDIO approach (Conceive – Design – Implement – Operate) is being actively integrated into EKTU’s educational process, bridging the gap between academic learning and real-world engineering practice.

Congratulations to the winners and sincere thanks to all participants for their brilliant ideas and technical creativity!
